I am writing because of
something Superintendent Carter taught me, personally: Silence is
Concurrence. I implore each and every one of you to be truly
contemplative about what it is you are doing. Most especially our
newest board members, whose seats are still warm from their
predecessors. It takes a great deal of audacity to enact something
so severe without any tenure to back it. This type of activity
lends itself to a heightened awareness that breeds distrust,
contempt and community unrest. It raises suspicion and smacks of
duplicity. Superintendent Carter is a man of compassion,
conviction, and internal fortitude—the likes of which our district
has not seen in some time. His top priority is our children. What
