A wider perspective on teacher layoffs

Thousands have lost their
jobs, are in fear of losing their jobs; and, if they are fortunate
enough to still be working, many have taken major hits to their
benefit packages or salaries. Most of us know someone who has been
impacted by this recession. Increased class sizes are hardly a
major concern, and teachers who may "suffer" such an indignation
need only to be reminded that at least they have a job and their
benefits and salaries are not reduced or impacted due to their
strong contracts and unions.
